Farrell’s paintings have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in and out of New York going back to the late 1970s. His work is part of several private and public collections that include Edward Albee and Pamela Auchingloss.
His paintings of late pursue an exploration of figurative abstraction with a particular childlike innocence that belies the complexity found in this work. Although deceptively diminutive, in these pieces Farrell weaves personal narratives writ large in their expressive effect. As always his paintings are imbued with a signature luscious painterly quality.
