Emily is a member of The Painting Center in New York City and has been exhibiting her art since 1984. She is also a member of the American Abstract Artists. In 2008 she received the John Hultberg Memorial Prize, as part of the 183rd Annual Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary American Art, National Academy Museum, New York, NY.
Over the past few years Emily’s art has focused on the grid with some inclusion of a curve. Often her work is reductive as to the forms but the color and paint handling is alternately lush or minimal depending on the piece. Regardless of the emphasis she never sacrifices the innate sensuality of the painting medium. Emily has also expanded her interests to include black and white photography.
